So people were drawing Wallace as a merman, so here’s Steven in a steampunk-ish suit with too many belts. The Mega stone is on the gear hanging off his jacket.
(I kinda had to take version 1 down to fix how fudgly the face looked. Sorry kyriakiscience ^_^“)

The more I think about the Mineral Squad, the more I firmly believe Steven is the ‘baby brother’ of the trio.
I mean, he’s really easy to entertain, and the other two are fiercely protective of him.
I can imagine the three going for a cave trip and running into a Dragon-type pokemon.
Cue Cynthia and Riley going ‘PROTECT THE BBY’ and the wild pokemon gets REKT in seconds.

I have this weird fic idea fermenting in my head

It kinda follows that Hero-Seer-Awaker dynamic. Brendan is the hero who basically has potential and is required to stop the comet. Zinnia is the Awaker who basically triggers the ORAS incident to prep the Hero for the comet event, as well as summoning Rayquaza to Dragon Ascent.
And… Steven is the Seer, who guides the Hero, but is forbidden from directly helping him(That double battle doesn’t count because it’s the Hero helping the Seer.) And if the Hero fails or is killed in action, Steven is literally sent back to the night before the Hero moves in(cue Homura-esque cutscene). Or if he knows that the Hero is going to fail, he can kill himself(Edge of Tomorrow, anyone?) to restart the game again. Usually by the use of a gun. He gets advice from the former Seers(similar to Radiant Historia) though. The Awaker knows about how a Seer works because Draconid history, but the Hero doesn’t.

About the Eot-esque scenes, I keep visualising Steven going into an alley with gun in hand, and Wallace following him and witnessing him pulling the trigger.
Cue angst.

So jakeeggroll had this headcanon where Steven is really afraid of dragons(childhood accidents, check her blog for details). Kinda adding onto it.
So pre-ORAS, Steven would freak out when dragon-types get into his visual range, regardless of distance(although the shorter it is the larger the freak out). The Elite Four sensed that this wouldn’t be good if a Dragon Tamer came for a challenge, so Drake and Glacia basically organised a bit of training where Drake brings out one of his Flygons(they looked the friendliest), and try to get Steven to adapt to them, in a way(of course, Glacia is there to monitor him, and blasts the Flygon if it moves foward too much).
Considering this sketch where distance is badly calculated, Steven can manage dragon-types when they’re technically on the opponent side, flinches badly when they use physical attacks, but still freaks out when there’s any of the Bagon line or the dragon uses breath-based attacks. And if it’s outside trainer battles, consider a massive ‘nope’.

Put a pokemon contest, Lisia and Steven together and you will have a massively freaked-out Champion in no time.
Dialogue in lower right corner:
Wallace: ‘No Altarias this time, Lis. You scare him.’
Steven: ‘Nyeeeeeee-’(technically crying and going ‘nope’ at the same time)
Lisia: …?

Random headcanon time!

Some headcanons I came up with the Elite Four and Steven. Quite a bit of it is based on jakeeggroll’s headcanons, though.

Sidney:
-He really needs coffee to keep him up. No, seriously, he can barely get through the day without a few cups of espresso.
-He’s good at poker(constantly Cheshire grin works), but is terrible at chance games.
-Is pals with Drake, and constantly reminds him to keep his Dragon pokemon out of Steven’s visual range.
-Cannot cook, but is good at making drinks.

Phoebe:
-Knows the lift girl, but doesn’t want to leak the secrets. ‘No spoilers~’
-Actually prefers cold over hot weather.
-Hates comedies because ‘NONE OF THIS IS MAKING SENSE’.
-Also likes coffee, but isn’t so dependent on it like Sidney.
-secretly ships Glacia and Drake, and Steven with stones.

Glacia:
-Treats Steven like a son, and is in charge of protecting him from Drake’s(and others’) Dragon pokemon while they’re at the league.
-Has actually watched Frozen, and swears that she will go Froslass over anyone who compares her to Elsa. (UwU)
-prefers orange juice
-apparently dislikes the fact that Glalie has a dislocated jaw in Mega mode. Has attempted to fix it by getting Steven’s Metagross to help, with hilarious outcomes. Glalie had a sideways jaw for a week.
-Is a wine taster during her off days.

Drake:
-joined the Elite Four AFTER Steven became champion for the first time. (Ramos was his predecessor.) Steven does not take his arrival very well.
-Has an even bigger appetite than Glacia.
-Hated coffee or tea. Feels too aristocratic for him. He sometimes mixes coffee with whiskey, just to balance it out.
-the Elite Four’s strict grandpa who loves fluffy pokemon.
-Sometimes drags Sidney and Steven out on morning jogs, mainly for them to ‘get a bit more sunshine’.

Steven:
-Other than his absolute fear of dragon types(see jakeeggroll for details), he also holds a slight disdain for fighting types. He thinks it’s overused and easily countered.
-The only better cook in the Elite Four.
-During his off days, he meets up with Cynthia and Riley(again, jakeeggroll’s idea, and she calls it the Mineral Squad). Phoebe sometimes tags along, but only the trips to Sinnoh because she wants to go to the supposedly-haunted Chateau.
-Is allergic to coffee, and develops a bad case of itchy throats if he drinks more than his limit.
-Has never drunk alcohol… Well, being spiked doesn’t count, right? (It happened at his twentieth birthday. Phoebe and Brawly attempted to get Wallace drunk, but somehow Steven got hit instead. Spiked!Steven is basically Steven with a higher tendency to ramble about rocks, which is…all the time.)
-The first time being the champion was when he was fourteen. The next eleven years was literally the champion title being passed around between him, Wallace and a few other trainers(mostly Steven and Wallace, the others didn’t stay that long.)

That moment when you try to genderbend someone and you end up just sticking a ponytail on there and do a bit of tweaking with the hair.
Wanted to note that the ribbon was actually meant for the ponytail but it’s so constantly switched with the necktie people don’t even care anymore. Also, part of the hair curls around the left ear.
