Can you guys imagine if Kingdom Hearts was just a long D&D game and the dungeon Master is just old Grandpa Xehanort being a bastard to his four grand children and their Friends?

Two questions: where in the timeline did this campaign start and who was the sorry group that joined midway through.
Also Master Xehanort’s time travel plan was him trying to act like he didn’t botch a ton of rolls. Just saying.
What happened was there were a few initial campaigns (KH 1 / CoM / 2) and the DM made it seem like it was over. Then they started a new campaign only for the DM to dramatically reveal that it was never a separate campaign, but a ‘cleverly’ crafted ruse that they were playing characters earlier in the timeline and it just so happened that all the players rolled shittily in their encounters. Things proceeded to go south from there, and for a while the Party just flat out left the DM for a while, but they all made up and are setting up the final conclusion to the story arc at least 5 years after the last train wreck.
Why do people assume it was Xehanort’s fault and not like: Xehanort had a well laid out plan but then Sora, Riku and Kairi did their own thing and he had to accommodate until he was bending over backwards and then the three didn’t want the campaign to stop so he kept it going and was eventually pulling shit out of his ass to do so. The best laid dm plans will always be steamrolled by the players 9/10.
Also Kairi is the player who misses a lot of sessions, Riku is fairly consistent but still misses some, and Sora makes sure to show up to every single one.
You know, Roxas’ story makes a lot more sense if you think of it as a series of bad rolls and critical failures strung together in a row.
Axel makes a lot more sense if you realize he’s the guy that magically always rolls 20s at just the right moment.
Lea: I wanna grab Sora before he’s norted
Xehanort: But you’re not even there
Lea: I have teleport skills and high darkness defense
Sora: Please let him
Xehanort: *sigh* Fine, roll stealth
Lea: *rolls a 20*
Xehanort: You manage to snatch Sora just in the nick-of-time
Lea: I wanna sass them now
Xehanort: There are 13 of them and you’re outnumbered
Lea: Don’t care, rolling intimidation
Lea: *rolls 20 again*
Xehanort: …They all sit there dumbfounded as you begin to speak.
