Like for lotus seeds the Chinese pronunciation is ‘Lian Zi’(蓮子) which is a pun on ‘having precious kids/sons in a row’ since that translates to ‘Lian Sheng Gui Zi’(連生貴子)

Mandarin Oranges are pronounced similarly to Gat(桔) which is a pun on ‘lucky’(吉) because the pronunciation for that word in Chinese is the same and literally look at the words

The traditional sticky rice cakes(年糕) are pronounced as ‘Nian Gao’ and are a pun on ‘achieving higher year after year’(年高), and you know the drill

School: 2 weeks till portfolio deadline
