A joke that’s been running around in Hong Kong is that Samsung’s Note 7 was fated to have a lot of problems

It’s because note 7 sounds a lot like an offensive term in Cantonese, ‘碌柒’(literally note chut, where chut is the Cantonese pronunciation for seven), which either translates to penis or stupid. It’s generally used as an insult.

Coincidence or not, it’s pretty funny.
